Plenary 4. Thursday 3 July 15.30-17.30. Understanding energy transitions to accelerate decarbonisation
Decarbonization Perspectives of Brazil Energy Sector: Brazil’s renewable energy sources account for 45% of its domestic energy supply, benefiting from abundant natural resources that enable the large-scale use of hydroelectricity, wind power, solar energy, and biofuels. However, as energy demand grows, maintaining a high share of renewables will require greater investment and strategic efforts. The government has set ambitious decarbonization targets, emphasizing infrastructure development, social impact, and environmental challenges. This presentation will explore scenarios that highlight key obstacles, including the need for modernized grids, sustainable policies, and ecological protection, to ensure Brazil’s continued transition toward a low-carbon economy.
