Principal Climate Change Scientist

Dr Helen Macintyre is a Principal Climate Change Scientist in the Climate & Health Assessment Team, in UKHSA’s Centre for Climate and Health Security. She is Co-Deputy Director for the Centre for Net Positive Health and Climate Solutions, and a Theme Lead within the NIHR HPRU in Climate Change and Health Security. She has almost 20 years’ experience working across atmospheric and Earth science, global atmospheric modeling, air quality, the urban and built environment, and now works primarily in the area of climate change and human health. She is lead author for chapters of the 4th Health Effects of Climate Change in the UK report, focusing on health effects of temperature, air pollution, and health co-benefits of climate actions. She leads on understanding and quantifying the future health impacts of climate change, and she has a strong interest in understanding the health implications of climate actions. She collaborates closely with the UK Met Office and is UKHSA representative on the UKCP18 Government user group.
