Geophysicist Tarje Nissen-Meyer is a Professor in Environmental Intelligence at the Department of Mathematics/Statistics at Exeter University, and Founder/Executive Director of Earth Rover Program. Educated in Germany, USA, Canada, he previously held research positions at Caltech, Princeton, ETH, and a professorship at Oxford. His research interests include global seismology, numerical methods/supercomputing, wave physics, inverse theory, Earth/planetary interiors, seismic hazard, focussing more recently on scientific machine learning/AI, wildlife monitoring, soil health. At non-profit Earth Rover Program, he leads a global effort to apply seismic techniques to high-resolution, spatially explicit, non-invasive, cheap soil-health monitoring, towards balancing high-yield, regenerative agriculture with resilient communities, food systems and restored ecosystems.
