Dr Ed Gasson in a Royal Society University Research Fellow and an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Exeter’s Penryn Campus in Cornwall. His research focuses on the largest source of uncertainty in future sea level projections – the Antarctic Ice Sheet. Working with a range of ice sheet models, he integrates data from the geological past to constrain these models and ultimately improve future sea level projections. He is currently involved in the SWAIS-2C project which has recently recovered the longest ever sediment core from under the Antarctic ice sheet which will be used to reconstruct the past stability of the ice sheet.
