Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and Director of Cambridge Zero
Professor Emily Shuckburgh is Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA) for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and Director of Cambridge Zero at the University of Cambridge. She is also Professor of Environmental Data Science at the Department of Computer Science and Technology.
A mathematician and climate scientist, Emily is a Fellow of several leading institutions and President-elect of the Royal Meteorological Society. At Cambridge, she holds senior roles across climate science and AI research initiatives. She previously spent over a decade at the British Antarctic Survey, leading major research programmes, and has also conducted research at MIT and the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. She is co-author, with HM King Charles III and Tony Juniper, of the ‘Ladybird Book on Climate Change
